They were more disappointed and ashamed that Keith did not adhere by what they taught him. Lauren and her father did not have much of a reaction when he died. Keith was killed in the streets outside of the wall. His fathers reaction was a beating and after that he went to stay with Lauren. When returned he had nice clothes that the family would normally not be able to afford. There was a time where he went missing for two weeks. He did not like the indoors, he wanted to explore and shoot guns but that wasn’t always an option. Her brother Keith was a very excitable child. She saw her life in a different perspective and compared it to the community. After her death she looked back at her own life and beliefs. Lauren did not attend funerals usually but this one she did. So it affected her when she was shot through the gates of the community. Lauren was aware that Amy’s mom was still just sixteen and did not provide her with the proper care. Amy caused a fire to a garage and after that Lauren has kept her close. The two deaths of Amy and Keith were significant. But many families had to deal with a loss due to the gun violence. They also have target practice and earn a certificate. It is relevant that everyone was trained from a young age on how to use and handle the guns. When reading Parable of the Sower I have noticed that this is a dystopian society.
